The NHS Forest is an exciting national tree planting project coordinated by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and delivered by OxTreeGen.
Our central aims are:
- Improving health of staff, patients and communities through increasing access to green space on or near to NHS land.
- Greening the NHS Estates and planting 1 tree per employee is the goal
- Encouraging greater social cohesion between NHS sites and the local community.
- Bringing together a range of professionals and volunteers to produce woodland that includes the use of art, food crops, woodfuel and biodiversity.
- Creating “Green Lungs” across the country that will help prevent illness as much as it helps patients to recover.
Andy Hardy, Chief Executive Officer of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust said: “The NHS Forest is a simple but effective idea to improve the environment. As a modern Trust this already fits in with our sustainability plans and our ethos as a responsible citizen and I am looking forward to watching this take shape on site.”
The NHS Forest has partnered with OxTreeGen to produce unique gifts and opportunities for all of us to get involved. If you are looking for a meaningful gift that will help support our NHS simply click on your chosen Hospital from the list below and select the number of trees you wish to sponsor.
If your preferred site is not on the list please let us know which Hospital it is and we will contact them, email us at nhsforest@oxtreegen.com Please do go ahead and sponsor your tree and we can direct it to your preferred site if they decide to join the campaign.
(* - If your preferred site is unable to accommodate your tree we will plant your tree in one of the national NHS Forest Living Legacy Woodland sites.)
